The Royal albatross

WALT: Use information from a text for our writing

The albatross feathers are mostly white with black on the top of the wing , the feathers look really colourful.

The albatross is the largest sea bird in the world because it measures up to 1.35 metres from the bill to the tail.

The albatross has salt glands inside its head; excess salt from the bird’s seafood comes out through the tube-like nostrils near the base of the bill.

The albatross oil gland is at the base of its tail.

The albatross uses its bill and the back of its head to spreader oil droplets from the gland which it then spreads throughout its feathers, this is believed to have a waterproofing effect.

When the baby albatross hatch the flies come around the nest and the people who work for D.O.C go and put vinegar  around the albatross nest to keep the flies away from the baby's.
